Her latest work of fiction focuses on the lives of two very different sisters. Long estranged when the book opens, Nora and Theresa were twenty-one and seventeen when they left Ireland for America. Nora, responsible and serious, was engaged to a good man. Theresa, outgoing and adventurous, got pregnant. Fifty years later, Nora has four grown children and Theresa is a cloistered nun. But a family emergency forces the women to re-establish contact and break their mutual silence about the past.
