An internationally renowned poet, novelist, and journalist, Nigerian-born Habila is the author of The Chibok Girls, a nonfiction account of Boko Haram’s kidnapping of 276 girls, and several works of fiction, including Waiting for an Angel, winner of the Commonwealth Writers Prize and the Caine Prize for African Writing. His new novel focuses on a Nigerian scholar who accompanies his wife to Berlin, where she has an arts fellowship. Detached from his usual life, the man discovers unexpected connections with a variety of people; as he learns the stories of a transgender film student, a grieving Libyan doctor, and a Somalian shopkeeper, he senses his own identity changing. Habila will be in conversation with Tope Folarin, award-winning Nigerian-American writer and author of A Particular Kind of Black Man.
