Jennifer Ryan is the author of The Chilbury Ladies' Choir and The Spies of Shilling Lane and lives in the Washington, D.C., area with her husband and two children. Originally from Kent and then London, she was previously a nonfiction book editor.

Sam Smith is the Public Education Officer for the Friends of the National World War II Memorial. He assists with educational programs, stewardship, event management, and media relations. Sam is a graduate of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. He has previously worked for the American Battlefield Trust, where he oversaw more than a dozen national and regional education conferences, and the National Park Foundation, as a grant steward and historian for the National Capital Region.

Friends of the National World War II Memorial is a 501(c)(3) organization based in Washington, D.C. dedicated to honoring and preserving the national memory of World War II and creating the next “Greatest Generation” of tomorrow.
