Join us for the launch of Amina's Song, Hena Khan’s standalone sequel to the highly acclaimed Amina's Voice. Amina is back in Greendale after an amazing vacation to Pakistan and she’s ready to share everything with her friends—the food, the shops, and her Pakistani heroine, Malala Yousafzai. Unfortunately, her classmates are uninterested and they focus on the worst part of Malala Yousafzai’s story. Amina finds herself torn between two parts of her identity in this engaging story for middle-grade readers, sure to spark discussion.
Hena Khan is a Pakistani American writer, and the first author published under Salaam Reads. She is the author of the middle grade novels Amina’s Voice, Amina’s Song, and More to the Story. She is also the author of several picture books including Golden Domes and Silver Lanterns, Under My Hijab, and It’s Ramadan, Curious George. A local author, Hena lives in her hometown of Rockville, Maryland, with her basketball-loving family. Aisha Saeed is a Pakistani American writer, teacher, and attorney. Her books for children and teens include, among others, the bestselling Amal Unbound, Written in the Stars, Yes No Maybe So (with Becky Albertalli), and Diana and the Island of No Return. She has been featured on MTV, the Huffington Post, NBC, and the BBC. As one of the founding members of the We Need Diverse Books Campaign, she is helping change the conversation about diverse books. Aisha lives in Atlanta, Georgia, with her husband and sons.
