Petra wakes up on a new planet after traveling for centuries away from a destroyed Earth. She soon finds that she is the only one among those specially chosen for the journey who remembers any of her past on Earth. The sinister Collective has been purging memories of those aboard the ship leaving Petra as the lone bringer of Earth's now forbidden stories and her grandmother's Mexican folklore and its wisdom to a changing humanity.
Donna Barba Higuera is the author of the middle grade novel Lupe Wong Won’t Dance which received a Pura Belpré Honor Award in 2020 and the picture book El Cucuy is Scared Too. Donna has spent her whole life blending folklore with her experiences into stories that fill her imagination.
