The PoliticsGirl Podcast: A Brief History of How We Got Here

There are so many things we think we know but we don’t really know. When you hear someone use the word communism, socialism, Marxism, fascism…do you know what they mean? Or do you just have a general idea? Where did these ideas even come from? How did our governments evolve? What’s an aristocracy, a democracy, a kleptocracy? We keep talking about oligarchs…What’s an oligarchy? How is it different than a plutocracy? What is going on in the world and how did we get here? Honestly, this pod started as a an extended “I don’t think that word means what you think it means” and turned into a brief history of the world. But, I came out of the research understanding things so much better than I did before, and I hope you’ll come out of listening to this pod feeling the same way.
