It hurts.” You can’t believe the President of the United States, the man who held the same office as Washington, Lincoln, JFK and FDR could’ve brought us so low. That he and his enablers could have put their own needs and desire to retain power ahead of the continuation of the American experiment itself. It’s difficult to absorb, but like the Nuremberg trials, the 1/6 committee is an essential part of holding ourselves accountable - we have to face what happened, acknowledge the shortcomings that allowed it to happen, and take responsibility so it never happens again. This is an all-hands-on-deck moment. A five-alarm fire. If there was ever a time to care about this country, its democracy and its politics, now is that time.
