Is Liverpool still a Labour city? With talk of Nigel Farage's Reform gaining ground in what’s long been one of Labour’s safest strongholds, Laura headed up to Liverpool to find out what Scousers really think of Keir Starmer and his government one year in.

Lifelong Labour supporters were frustrated by cuts to child benefits and fuel allowances, and accused Starmer of “pushing Labour to the right.” Some say he’s trying to win over Reform voters but losing support from the left in the process. Others defend him, saying constant leadership changes would only make things worse.

From concerns about the NHS, housing, and the cost of living, to anger over immigration policy and environmental cuts, the people of Liverpool aren’t holding back. Some feel abandoned by a party they once trusted. Others see no real alternative. A few say they’re tempted by Reform or the Greens.

As one resident puts it: “The policies hurt the people with the least money, instead of taxing those with the most.” Another adds: “I’ve always been Labour… but I can’t stand Keir Starmer.”

Has the Prime Minister done enough to keep Liverpool red?
