Polls in the lead up to by-election day had the Reform candidate Llŷr Powell ahead of all other parties, signalling what could have been the party's first seat in the Senedd.
Speaking to people on the ground, reception for Nigel Farage's party was mixed, and although many expressed distaste with the Labour government, few showed interest in electing a right-wing candidate to the Welsh Parliament.
