Six months on from our last sit-down with the Poole MP, Neil Duncan-Jordan returns to PoliticsJOE at a pivotal moment for the future of the Labour Party.

With a wave of high-profile interventions this week from Keir Starmer, Tony Blair, Andy Burnham and Wes Streeting, the battle for Labour’s direction is firmly underway. Duncan-Jordan's contribution to that debate is Socialism26, a proposal aimed at reshaping the party’s priorities and reconnecting it with voters.

Neil chats to Andy about the thinking behind Socialism26: a programme that spans immediate action, end-of-parliament goals, and long-term manifesto commitments. Policies span from a major council housing push to reforms of the care sector, from the privatisation of key industries to controls on AI. He argues Labour must “get on the front foot” and offer a clearer, more compelling vision for the country.

He makes the case for a pluralistic, open political culture, where disagreement doesn’t lead to exclusion (Duncan-Jordan was previously suspended for voting against the government on issues like welfare cuts). Central to that argument is Andy Burnham, who Neil believes could not only boost Labour electorally, but also restore internal trust and debate.
