Karen Read, a 45-year-old woman, is accused of killing her boyfriend, Boston police officer John O’Keefe, in January 2022. She faces charges of second-degree murder, motor vehicle manslaughter while driving under the influence, and leaving the scene of a collision causing death. The prosecution alleges that Read, after a night of drinking, struck O’Keefe with her Lexus SUV and left him to die in a snowbank outside a home in Canton, Massachusetts, following an argument. Read pleads not guilty, and her defense claims she is the victim of a cover-up by law enforcement officers, alleging O’Keefe was beaten at a party inside the home and left outside, with Read framed for his death.
