Court documents indicate that Cox drove a Jeep registered to Lori’s deceased husband, Charles Vallow, from Idaho to Arizona and shot at Boudreaux outside his home in Gilbert on October 2, 2019. Boudreaux was unharmed in the incident.
The motive, according to prosecutors, stemmed from the belief held by Lori, Chad Daybell (her fifth husband), and Cox that Boudreaux had a “dark” soul. This belief was part of their broader apocalyptic ideology, which played a central role in the series of crimes committed by the group.
