Life is expressed in multiple forms and is like the relationship between electricity and devices.

Life is a package deal and includes consciousness, emotions, cognitions.

Is evolution wrong? Altruism, medicine, mama bear and her cubs

We believe ourselves to be special because we try to understand introspection

DNA common to all life forms, so we need to chat with aliens to make sense of other minds (if they are possessed of a mind). Even then, we cannot access other minds: we are forced to rely on the veracity of self-reporting and on theorizing (observing, testing, predicting/expectancy, falsifying).

We are already downloading ourselves (procreation, books). Mind is hardware/wetware based so no doubt downloadable.

Free will is an artefact of a system view of existence and so is the concept of personality.

Our personality is mutable and in flux throughout the lifespan, it is a mere artefact, so it cannot be preserved. But we could download memories and therefore core identity.

Placing ourselves into another person and experiencing the synergy and confluence. Eternal life is impossible as a unitary entity, only as an interactive enterprise.

Such attempts to perpetuate ourselves raise the question of the meaning and purpose of our existence.

What is our role? Agents of destruction, slaves to the Demiurge (gnosticism), as our historical record affirms? Will we pollute our way through the galaxy as we colonize it? This is the view of religion: it saves us from our innately evil selves as we master creation.

Or are we essentially good agents of order and god’s healing? Or just random beings? Both are the views of camps in the enlightenment (teleological vs. scientific).

God minimized (Kabbalah) and sacrificed (Christianity) for our sake. The vessels broke and need to be fixed (harmony and symmetry restored).
