YouTube Description
as posted by the channelBecause the narcissist is dissociative and couldn’t care less about memories, the partner is saddled with the obligations of a memory bearer, is rendered a repository of reminiscences.
This arrangement allows the narcissist – and the relationship – to preserve a sense of faux continuity.
The narcissist’s self-concept and self-imputed core identity rely on this “secure base” maternal function. It is as if the narcissist outsources his memory, suffering from infantile amnesia.
Memories are associated with emotions and, in the narcissist’s experience, with hurt. Not remembering is a defense. The partner is the thread that holds together the narcissist’s beads of sempiternal present.
