The fantasy feels real. When it is falsified by reality, this brings on the three types of dissociation (reality is not real, this is not happening to me, amnesia), aggression (attempts to reshape reality to fit the fantasy), and alloplastic defenses.
The narcissist is fiercely protective of the fantasy.
The fantasy is reflective only of the narcissist's locus of grandiosity.
The collateral victim's parameters are made to fit to the fantasy (as distinct the goal-oriented fantasy of the psychopath which revolves around the victim's needs, wishes, dreams, hopes, expectations, and anxieties).
