Martin Van Buren was an interesting fellow. He was the first president born after American independence from Britain, so he was the first president actually born an American citizen. Also, he was the first president of non-British ancestry, as his parents were Dutch. He was a senator, a governor, Secretary of State, and Vice President, all before becoming President. Oh, and he co-founded the Democratic Party. What didn't this guy do? Let's learn some more!
