Let’s walk through what jurors are really going to be asked to decide. What happened inside that Virginia home in February of 2023, when Christine Banfield and Joseph Ryan were killed. Was it a murder conspiracy hatched by Brendan Banfield and the family’s Brazilian au pair, Juliana Peres Magalhães. They both shot Ryan. Then we’ll look at the FetLife “catfishing” theory and the state’s allegation that Brendan Banfield used the site to lure Ryan to the home as part of an elaborate scheme.
Is the au pair’s story legit, even though her testimony bought her a better deal in the courts? We’re not judging character, we’re wondering how the jury will see things.
