as posted by the channelWith the election of Trump and Melbourne cup, I'm not sure even political nerds noticed. The misinformation bill hasn't passed the senate yet but is on its way. I don't think this bill is what a lot of sky news commentators say it is, but it certainly isn't good. Government exemptions, loose definitions, overly broad parameters of "harm" leaves it wide open for misuse against punters, and it isn't cutting anywhere close to the core of the problem, algorithms and bots shaping our public discourse. How about instead of trying to police weird uncle Darryls Facebook ravings you crack down on social media bots, and force big tech to make the secret ingredients of their algorithms public so we know what the bloody hell goes onto them. Just a few better ideas from a punter, feel free to take them. #australia #auspol
