YouTube Description
as posted by the channelDr. Roger McFillin and guest Mollie Adler from the Back from the Borderline Podcast on the Radically Genuine Podcast Mollie bravely shares her story of experiencing sexual abuse and grooming online at just 14 years old. It's a stark reminder of the dangers lurking in cyberspace and the importance of safeguarding our youth.
"I would have laughed if you told me I was being abused," Mollie reveals. "I thought I was a willing participant."
We need to prioritize the safety of our youth online. Mollie's journey also sheds light on a critical aspect of trauma recovery: the time it may take for victims to recognize their victimization. As Mollie bravely shared, it wasn't until she was 34 that she realized she was a victim. This highlights the importance of patience, empathy, and understanding in clinical practice when addressing trauma histories.
Let's come together to raise awareness, advocate for stronger protections, and create a safer online environment for our adolescents.
