RealClearPolitics: Kash Patel Backlash, Miranda Devine on Hunter Biden's Pardon, and more

Monday on the RealClearPolitics radio show -- weeknights at 6:00 p.m. on SiriusXM's POTUS Channel 124 and then on Apple, Spotify, and realclearpolitics.com -- Andrew Walworth, Carl Cannon, and Tom Bevan discuss how the political world is reacting to President Biden pardoning his son Hunter after repeatedly saying he would never do so. What will this mean for the president's legacy?

"This is a blanket pardon for every known and unknown federal crime he may have committed since 2014 when he started taking money from Burisma," Tom Bevan explained. "It is nearly unprecedented for a private citizen to get this kind of broad immunity, it's akin to what Gerald Ford gave Richard Nixon... The fact that they're trying to pass it off as, [President Biden] suddenly changed his mind and he was telling the truth before, it's straight up gaslighting the American people."

"My guess is Biden didn't change his mind, he expected Kamala Harris to pardon him," quipped Carl Cannon.

In the second segment, starting around timestamp 12:45, the gang looks at how D.C. is reacting to Trump's nomination of Kash Patel to lead the FBI.

Also, they discuss reports that MSNBC host Al Sharpton's foundation accepted a $500,000 donation from the Harris campaign just days before he conducted a very friendly interview with her on the network.

"Imagine how the rest of the media would react if someone at FOX News accepted money from Donald Trump," suggested Tom Bevan.

After that, starting around 26:30, Andrew Walworth talks to New York Post writer Miranda Devine, the author of "The Laptop from Hell," about why Joe Biden felt he needed to pardon Hunter now, and whether the president's brother might get a pardon, too.

"He's being investigated, and that's been going on for a very long time," Devine recalled about the president's brother Jim. "He was involved in a lot of Hunter Biden's exploits, like the influence peddling that was going on in China."

"He's given Hunter not just a pardon, but a pardon going back 11 years. This is unprecedented," she said. "Not 10 years, but curiously, 11 years. Because that's when the whole Ukraine grift began, where Hunter was paid a million dollars a year to be on the board of that corrupt energy company, Burisma, in Ukraine."

Finally, starting around minute 39, Tom Bevan talks to RCP White House correspondent Phil Wegmann about how the Biden press office is dealing with the Hunter Biden pardon.

"The first we hear from the Biden White House after President Biden did something he told us he wasn't going to do is while the president is on Air Force One headed to a different continent, and it's not on camera. We have only the audio," Wegmann said. "A cynic could conclude that's why they dropped this news on a Sunday night on their way out of town."
