Lascaris and Ambassador Stepanov had a wide-ranging discussion about the possible significance of a second Trump administration, the Ukraine war, Israel's devastating attacks on Palestinians, and Canada-Russia relations.
Ambassador Stepanov assumed his post in Canada in 2021. He graduated from Moscow State University of International Relations in 1994 with a Master’s Degree in International Journalism and Public Relations. He then joined the Department of North America of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His previous postings abroad include Consulate General of Russia in San Francisco, USA (Vice Consul), Embassy of Russia in Tbilisi, Georgia (Counselor for Political Affairs), Embassy of Russia in Washington, D.C, USA (Senior Counselor, Head of Political External Section).
