Following the seizure of Damascus by Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), U.S. officials met in Syria with the leaders of HTS. HTS has long been designated as a 'terrorist organization' by the U.S. and other Western governments.

After meeting with HTS officials in Damascus, the U.S. government lifted a $10 million bounty that it had placed on the head of HTS's leader, Abu Mohammed Al-Jolani.

Dimitri Lascaris discussed these developments on Green Planet Monitor with Dr. David Kattenburg. Lascaris argues that the concept of 'terrorism' is now so politicized that it has become meaningless. Governments cynically manipulate the term 'terrorism' to pursue a hidden agenda.

Lascaris and Kattenburg also discussed the trajectory of the wars in Syria, the state of the resistance to U.S. hegemony, and the policies that the Trump administration is likely to pursue in Syria in 2025.
