as posted by the channelTYT Politics reporter Eric Byler () attended a beltway press conference held by Green Party presidential nominee Dr. Jill Stein shortly after Stein's visit to floodravaged Louisiana.
The purpose of the Aug. 23, 2016 press conference at the National Press Club in Washington DC was to talk about the threat of climate change.
With a better than expected attendance, it looked as if the beltway media was beginning to warm up to the Green Party nominee. But most of their questions, and even one of the answers, were laden with the subtext that she doesn't have a realistic chance of winning.
Dr. Stein spelled out a path to the White House that hinged upon getting into the 3 debates in September and October, and criticized corporate media for not covering her campaign sufficiently.
She compared herself to Bernie Sanders, and pointed out that the corporate media IS incapable of broadening the conversation to include progressive ideas when it wants to.
Reporters asked Stein to comment on Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, Stein implied that she would be a better president than Hillary Clinton based on personal integrity and foreign policy outlook, and said the majority of Trump supporters are voting against Clinton rather than for Trump.
Does the Washington press corp somehow want to protect the 2-party system? Or are reporters prone, as voters often are, to narrowing their focus to candidates who are seen as having a realistic chance of winning?
