The full sentence was, "If you think so little of me that you think I can be bought for the price of a hamburger, don't vote for me." Strangely enough, Maryland State Senator Cheryl Kagan said these words during a debate that took place during her first election for the Maryland State House. But as a citizen she had been thinking about the issue of money in politics, long before the "Citizens United" decision, and the flood of anonymous and unregulated money it brought into our electoral process, brought the issue to a boiling point in the national conscience.
Sen. Kagan also talked to TYT Politics reporter Jordan Chariton about the issue of closed or open primaries, and working with a Republican governor in a deep blue state at the NCSL Legislative Summit in Chicago.
