as posted by the channelRecent filings with the Federal Elections Commission reveal that the centrist group "No Labels" has quietly created a network of super PACs with names like "United for Progress" and "United Together" to impact the 2018 elections.
When conservative Democrat Dan Lipinski (IL-3) found himself deadlocked with progressive Marie Newman in an Illinois congressional primary race, No Labels raised money from Chicago megadonors and produced a misleading attack ad attributed to "United For Progress, Inc."
When this was reported in the Chicago Sun-Times, disappointed members and supporters of No Labels wrote to founder and CEO Nancy Jacobson to ask her why. Her unsatisfactory answers included a dig at Bernie Sanders and those who supported him in 2016 (such as Newman). These emails were then shared with TYT contributor Ryan Grim, who wrote about it for The Intercept.
Newman narrowly lost the March 10 primary, and is considering running again. Ryan Grim spoke to her from TYT's offices in Washington, D.C., on the day Jacobson's emails were published.
