Turkey was once the model of a secular, modern Muslim democracy. Today, Christians are being purged from that country.
The most notable symbol of that transformation is the Hagia Sophia. Once a Christian church, it was sacked by Muslim invaders and turned into a mosque. For the last 85 years, under reformer Ataturk, it was a museum, but this week the Hagia Sophia was, in effect, turned back into a mosque by Turkey's Islamist leader.
And of course, Turkey still refuses to acknowledge the genocide of over a million Armenian Christians.
