Premier Notley called a by-election for September 3rd, before labour day and in the middle of the federal election.
The timing is unusual, but I explain why I think it's an incredible opportunity for real conservatives and for Calgarians to tell the NDP how they feel about their attack on the oil patch.
If the turnout at the nomination meetings is anything to go by - only 83 people showed up to nominate a career politician for the NDP and yesterday over 700 people showed up to nominate a Suncor engineer to run for the Wildrose - there's good reason to believe those Calgarians who have been given a chance, don't want to miss the opportunity to send a strong message to the anti-oilsands NDP and cast their vote for jobs and a strong economy.
