Thursday, Rachel Notley shuffled her cabinet. This is a cabinet that has yet to sit a session in the legislature.
Their single greatest accomplishment to date has been deciding to give unelected senior bureaucrats a raise and then backing off when Albertans caught wind of it. Poor things. They’re probably exhausted from campaigning for Thomas Mulcair and need a change. But, within that shuffle a new ministry was created: Economic Diversification and Trade. Sounds good, right? Wrong.
Notley appointed Edmonton New Democrat MLA Deron Bilous to head up this new ministry. Deron doesn’t like the oil-patch and he doesn’t understand how our economy works. How do I know? I listened to him say it in his own words. He wants no new oil-sands projects. He wants us to raise royalties. He wants us all to re-educate for the green economy ahead. No thanks, Deron.
Deron Bilous is not the right person to jump start our economy. He is, on the other hand, exactly the right person to implement Notley’s anti oil, anti development, anti Albertan agenda.
