5:21Now PlayingBrian Lilley of TheRebel.Media reports, after revelations that more than 3.7 million dollars had been paid to teachers' unions to cover the cost of their contract negotiations, Ontario’s auditor general has been asked to investigate.
Bonnie Lysyk will look into secret payments between the province’s Liberal government and the teachers' unions that have been active donors and supporters of the Ontario Liberal government
Lysyk will want to know who was paid for what but in addition to the secret payments for the cost of contract negotiations, there's also the matter of money set aside to help struggling students being used instead to provide raises for teachers. Will Lysyk and her office look into that too?
Despite finding egregious examples of Liberal waste and mismanagement in the past, so far nothing has stuck. The party always claims nothing inappropriate happened and at that simple declaration, most of the media pack up and leave.
It appears what we have here is a very cozy relationship between the Liberal Party and teachers' unions with taxpayers, whether knowingly or not, paying the price for labour peace and Liberal re-election.
It’s long past time to take union money out of politics, to stop the special treatment given to unions that allows them to force workers to hand over money to be spent on politics. The corruption on display between the Ontario Liberals and the teachers' unions they negotiate with is proof of that.
