Maryam Monsef, the Minister for Democratic Institutions continues to dismiss the idea that a fundamental change to our electoral system must be put to the people because, as she says, “the conversation we’re going to have isn’t going to be about a “yes” or a “no”.
The Liberals are free to have their exploratory committees to look into the question but once they have decided on a system that they think will be better, that option must be put to the people for a simple but clear, “yes” or “no” answer.
