1. The suspect in the fatal shooting of eight people at day spas in and around Atlanta was arraigned. Six Asian women were killed in the attacks. The suspect, 21-year-old Robert Aaron Long, appeared to have frequented the spas targeted in the shootings and that he headed towards Florida afterwards, perhaps to carry out further shootings. Officials indicated he had issues with sexual addiction and the shootings may have not been motivated by racial hatred. A Stop Asian Hate movement is gaining steam in the U.S.
2. A House of Representatives committee will hold a discrimination hearing amid increased Asian-American hate crimes in the United States. Six Asian women were killed in Atlanta shooting on March 17th. Several victims have been identified, including Daoyou Feng Xiaojie Tan Xiaojie Yan.
3. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas insisted there is no ‘’border crisis’’ as the U.S. grapples with an influx of arrivals at the Mexico border and Biden tries to reverse strict Republican border policies.
4. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken says the U.S. is weighing options for North Korea. Blinken and Chinese officials are holding talks in Alaska following his meetings in South Korea. North Korea warned the U.S. not to create a ‘stink’ in the region.
5. Biden vowed Russian President Vladimir Putin will 'pay a price' for election meddling. Meanwhile, Russia demands an apology from the U.S. after Biden called Putin a killer.
