1. President Joe Biden will hold his first live presidential news conference tonight. Biden is expected to lay out a new goal for the COVID-19 vaccinations program. Biden is also likely to speak about an executive action on gun control. White House press secretary Jen Psaki said he is eyeing the measure after the two most recent mass shootings. Biden is also expected to address the surge of migrant children on the southern border and the overcrowding at border processing facilities. He tapped Vice President Kamala Harris to lead efforts to enforce laws at the U.S.-Mexico border.

2. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo gave family members special access to state-administered COVID-19 tests in the early days of the pandemic, The Washington Post reported on Wednesday. Cuomo faces bipartisan calls to resign over accusations of sexual harassment or misconduct from at least eight women and disclosures that his administration under-reported nursing home deaths from the pandemic. Cuomo denied the allegations and repeatedly said he would not resign.

3. Hundreds of mourners gathered at a candlelight vigil to remember the 10 people killed in the Colorado shooting. Suspect Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa will appear in court later today. Alissa’s motive has not yet been identified. According to the court affidavit, Alissa purchased a Ruger AR-556 semi-automatic pistol - a weapon that uses the same ammunition as an AR-15. The killings added to a long line of mass shootings in Colorado. In 2012, a young man dressed in tactical gear burst into a movie theater in the Denver suburb of Aurora during a midnight screening and sprayed the audience with gunfire, killing 12 and wounding 70. In 1999, a pair of students went on a shooting rampage at Columbine High School near Littleton, Colorado, murdering 12 classmates and a teacher before taking their own lives

4. A North Korea missile test ramped up pressure on the Biden administration as it reviews North Korea policy. The apparent tests were reported by authorities in the United States, South Korea and Japan, and coincided with the start of the Olympic torch relay in Japan. They would be the first ballistic missile tests by North Korea in nearly a year and the first reported since U.S. President Joe Biden took office in January.

5. CEOs of Facebook, Google and Twitter will appear before Congress on Thursday to answer questions about extremism and misinformation on their platforms.
