1. Facing a devastating report that found he sexually harassed multiple women, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo released a video denying any wrongdoing. Cuomo claimed his accusers were wrong and displayed multiple photos of himself exchanging kisses and hugs with constituents, politicians and celebrities.

2. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a new 60-day moratorium on residential evictions in areas with high levels of COVID-19 infection due to the raging Delta variant.

3. New York City will become the first major U.S. city to require proof of COVID-19 vaccination at restaurants, gyms and other businesses.

4. Lebanon marked the first anniversary of the catastrophic Beirut port explosion, with residents expressing anger and sadness in a city where many are still in mourning and demanding justice.

5. A wildfire, which set homes and cars on fire on the outskirts of Athens and forced residents to flee was receding, authorities said. Extreme temperatures fueled another blaze on an island near the capital.
