1:10:32Now PlayingU.S. President Trump is expected to make an announcement about coal, from the White House. Earlier today, Reuters reported that White House official said Trump is planning to use Cold War-era national defense powers to send nearly $700 million to support coal facilities.
The Defense Production Act, a 1950 law, grants presidents wide authority over national security-related industries. The official said it would be invoked to upgrade more than a dozen coal power plants, build a massive West Coast coal export terminal and match corporate funds to build new power plants.
