1:03Now PlayingA 2023 Journal of Clinical Investigation study reported associations among biofilm abundance, 10-HOME, and immune findings in the groups studied. Cell experiments found that 10-HOME could shift naive CD4 positive T cells toward a Th1 profile. Mouse experiments added mechanistic evidence.
These findings do not establish 10-HOME as a routine clinical diagnostic test, prove that every symptom comes from one molecule, or establish one universal cause of breast implant illness. More longitudinal and clinical validation work is needed.
