6:10Now PlayingPioneering African American journalist Simeon Booker has died at the age of 99. The award winning writer chronicled the civil rights movement including the horrific lynching of Emmett Till venturing into the deep south to bring his stories to Blacks around the country.
For decades, Booker was the Washington Bureau Chief for Jet and Ebony magazines. He also was the first African-American to become a full time reporter at the Washington Post.
