During her remarks, Taylor said, "Our work is consciousness shifting … it teaches critical thinking, instills racial pride and self confidence; a passion for learning; a devotion to wellness in body, in mind, spirit and community."
She added, "The most important work of all is creating mutuality — we have to learn how to love one another again, trust one another, create strategic alliances to move ourselves and our struggling people toward wellness and economic independence — that’s the goal."
