12:12Now PlayingCrystal Mason, 43 years old of Rendon Texas, was convicted of tax fraud in 2011. She was on parole and unknowingly voted illegally in the 2016 presidential election. As a result of casting her ballot she was charged and convicted of voter fraud.
The conviction for voter fraud violated Mason's parole and she was sent back to prison. Recently, a Tarrant County Texas District Attorney unearthed an old sewage violation filed against Mason and has charged her with that crime which will will keep her in prison.
Mason's attorney, Kim Cole spoke with Roland Martin about the series of very unfortunate events and what appears to be a targeted effort to make Mason an example as to why people of a certain demographic should stay away from the polls
