4:30Now PlayingStudents at Georgetown University here in Washington, DC overwhelmingly approved a plan to have every student pay a little over $50 a year for reparations to the nearly 4,000 descendants of 272 African slaves that Georgetown sold in 1838 to boost the University's finances.
The referendum is not binding on the University and so far, we do not know that Georgetown's administrators will agree to collect and disburse the money.
Cheryllyn Branche, Vice President of the GU272 Descendants Association and one of the descendants of the 272 slaves sold by Georgetown spoke with Roland Martin during Monday's edition of #RolandMartinUnfiltered about Georgetown students support of a reparations fund for the descendants of slaves who were sold by the university in 1883.
