21:02Now PlayingFlorida Governor Ron DeSantis says he will sign a bill that will require ex-felons to pay all financial obligations before they can vote and essentially establish a discriminatory poll tax for returned citizens.
If you remember, the people of Florida overwhelmingly passed Amendment 4 which would automatically restore voting rights to ex-felons who had severed their time. Desmond Meade and Sheena Meade championed the legislation and spent 10 years campaigning for the issue.
Florida Republicans have upended the amendment to Florida's constitution and trampled over the will of the people by passing the felon poll tax bill and Ron DeSantis who won Florida's gubernatorial election by 30,000 votes signing the bill into law.
Roland Martin warned everyone that Republicans would not allow the will of the people to stand and unfortunately for the 1.4 million returned citizens, he was right.
