These discriminatory laws will be critically important for the states upcoming governor's election that is expected to totally remake the state's redistricting process.
The suit challenging the Jim Crow-era laws is being filed by the National Democratic Redistricting Committee which is chaired by former Attorney General Eric Holder. Marina Jenkins, Litigation Director for the National Redistricting Foundation spoke with Roland Martin on Tuesday about the fight to stop Republicans from upending statewide elections in Mississippi and giving an advantage to white candidates.
