0:57Now PlayingWilliam Lee, the publisher of The Sacramento Observer has passed away.
The newspaper he founded more than 50 years ago was Sacramento's source for African American news. Lee died over the weekend at the age of 83. A pillar of his community, he documented the lives of African Americans before they were elected as officials, judges, doctors and lawyers.
He death is a tremendous loss to his family and community. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.
