as posted by the channelThe Gathering for Justice will host WE FIGHT ON: a Virtual Family Meeting, to talk about the ongoing fight for justice for Eric Garner, and the systemic and institutionalized racial disparities in policing - like Broken Windows and racial quotas - that contributed to his death.
December 3rd will mark five years since the non-indictment of NYPD Officer Daniel Pantaleo for the death of Eric Garner. While Pantaleo was finally fired in August 2019, Eric’s mother Gwen Carr will not stop in her push for true justice, not only for her son but for all of New York’s Black and Brown residents. Mayor de Blasio and Commissioner O’Neill have given this movement next to nothing and soon everyone will forget that justice still has not been served. As long as justice is denied, our communities remain unsafe.
On December 9th, Gwen Carr will be joined by Public Advocate Jumaane D. Williams, Linda Sarsour of Until Freedom, Lt. Edwin Raymond of the #NYPD12, student activist Victoria L Pannell, and members of the Justice Committee (JC) for a livestream event, co-moderated by our President and CEO Carmen Perez-Jordan and Monifa Bandele of MomsRising.org, in partnership with Roland S. Martin and BlackPublicMedia.org
