Haitian leaders came to Washington today to speak to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs about the social and political crisis in their country.

According to the Miami Herald, "lawmakers searched for a solution to the crisis, which deepened after last year’s illtimed fuel hike in July, and in midSeptember led to a countrywide lockdown that lasted for 12 weeks. Schools, businesses, banks and the court system were all shuttered. Businesses went bankrupt, and a hunger crisis ensued with roads still closed in some parts of the country." []

Pastor Gary Theodate of the Haiti Democracy Project joined Roland Martin in studio to discuss what is happening in Haiti and what can be done to help the embattled nation.
