Democrats lost the bigger battle over subpoenaing key witnesses and documents at the start of the trial, which Rep. Adam Schiff (DCalif.), the lead House impeachment manager, said was as important as the underlying articles of impeachment because that additional evidence could significantly shape how Americans view the charges against Trump. []
Adam Schiff, the lead House manager prosecuting the case, summed up the day’s proceedings. The Senate’s proposed process for the trial, he said, was simply “assbackwards,” requiring the House to present its case before considering whether to call witnesses and demand White House documents that Trump has been withholding. []
