According to media reports, DuPont sold 60 percent of the protective equipment it produced to the government, and kept 40 percent for its other customers.
The company won't say how much HHS paid for 450,000 protective suits, but a spokesperson noted that they sell for up to $15 apiece, three times what they cost before the virus pandemic.
Some government officials familiar with the supply-chain end of the coronavirus fight say it was yet another example of Trump's task force serving industry as the White House tried to corner the market on medical supplies.
