1:52Now PlayingThe Justice Department announced it would not bring federal criminal charges against two Cleveland police officers in the 2014 killing of 12 year old Tamir Rice.
The DOJ says the video of the shooting was of too poor a quality for prosecutors to conclusively establish what happened.
On November 22nd, 2014 Cleveland police responded to reports of a man pointing a gun at people. Within seconds of arriving on the scene police opened fire killing Rice. The 12 year old boy had been playing with a pellet gun at a recreation center.
The Department has decided to close the case and in a lengthy statement said this decision does not condone the officers' actions but says the cumulative evidence was not enough to support a federal criminal civil rights prosecution.
