The NAACP has filed a lawsuit against former President Donald Trump and Trump's Attorney Rudy Giuliani for inciting the January 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.
The lawsuit claims Trump violated the Ku Klux Klan Act, which was enacted to protect former slaves and lawmakers in Congress from violence by white supremacists. The NAACP filed the suit on behalf of Democratic Representative Benny Thompson, who is expected to be joined by several other members of Congress within his party in the coming days.
NAACP President Derrick Johnson spoke with Roland Martin about the suit against Trump and his lawyer Giuliani and about holding those individuals responsible for the deadly riot at the Capitol accountable.
