According to the lawsuit filed by farmers from Ohio, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and South Dakota, President Biden's stimulus plan violates their constitutional rights.
The American Rescue Plan provides $4 billion in loan forgiveness for socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers who are Black, American Indian, Hispanic, Alaskan Native, Asian American, or Pacific Islander.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture issued the following statement:
"We are reviewing the complaint and working with the Department of Justice. During this review, we will continue to implement the debt relief to qualified socially disadvantaged borrowers under the law."
