9:49Now PlayingIn Florida, an elementary school Principal is under investigation after a parent filmed the principal and a school clerk paddling her 6-year old daughter.
A teacher's assistant called the mother saying her child damaged a computer and needed to come up to the school to pay for the damages. When the mother arrived, this is how they decided to discipline the child.
Due to a language barrier, the mother says when she arrived at Principal Melissa Carter's office, she did not understand what was happening. She quickly noticed there were no surveillance cameras, so she began to record on her phone.
The mother says she felt like she could not intervene because she is an undocumented immigrant and was "frozen with fear."
Corporal punishment is legal in 19 states, including Florida. But, it's prohibited in Henry County, where this incident happened.
Principal Melissa Carter has been placed on administrative leave.
